Main Description
After the first contact with the client, a review will be held in the initiation phase of the assignment. The basis is the definition of the required test environment as defined in the client’s (master) test plan. It contains a first inventory of the client’s wishes and requirements. The next step, in the initiation phase, is the further specification of the test environment. One or more environment experts of the test organisation provide support. The client must supply the specifications of the test environment (e.g. as an architectural chart). The expert must describe what can and cannot be realised and how it fits within the standard services of the test organisation. From the moment the client and the test organisation reach an agreement about the plan, with associated timelines and costs (formal starting point), an assignment description is created describing the required setup. The assignment is then executed: realising the test environment in question. Based on the assignment description, the environment experts set up the entire test environment. Depending on the lead time, the experts will submit status reports to the test organisation, which in turn reports to the client according to the agreed timelines.
